3-Day Classic Experience in Southern Laos
Prepare for an unforgettable 3-day, 2-night adventure that gracefully blends the rich tapestry of Southern Laos. Explore the captivating Li Phi Waterfall and the immense Khone Phapheng Waterfall, often called the 'Niagara Falls of Southeast Asia'. Delve into ancient history at Vat Phu Temple before continuing to the refreshing allure of the highlands in Bolaven Plateau.
DAY 1: PAKSE - 4,000 ISLANDS
Departure: 08.00 hrs
The day begins with a drive by minivan through the peaceful countryside to Ban Nakasang, a small riverside village. From here, you will board a ferry boat and enjoy the ride across the river to Don Khone Island. The journey on the water is relaxing and gives you your first taste of life on the Mekong.
When you arrive at Don Khone, you will walk across the French colonial bridge that connects Don Khone and Don Det. This bridge was built in the late 1800s when the French tried to build a railway to move goods around the strong rapids of the Mekong. Nearby, you can see an old locomotive that still remains as a memory of this history.
From there, you will explore the island and visit the famous Li Phi Waterfall (Somphamit Falls). This area is full of surprises: a small wooden bridge, peaceful bamboo gardens, and even sandy river beaches where you can relax and enjoy the view. A new suspension bridge gives you a fantastic lookout over the rushing water. If you want some extra excitement, there is also a zipline adventure available (optional) where you can fly over the river.
After enjoying Don Khone, you will continue by local tuk-tuk to the Khonepasoi Waterfall, a smaller but very charming cascade before returning to your hotel on the islands.
