Departure: 08.00 hrs
Start your day with a relaxing boat ride along the Mekong River, passing riverside temples and villages as you make your way to Don Kho Island. Step ashore to explore this quiet island community, where life moves slowly and peacefully. Wander around village homes, meet locals, and enjoy the calm surroundings. Continue to Ban Saphai Village, where a short stop at the handicraft center lets you watch traditional weaving techniques and perhaps buy a unique souvenir. Then, travel by Tuk Tuk to Wat Chomphet, a tranquil temple, and visit the nearby Buddha carving village, where artisans continue age-old stone carving traditions. Around the temple, you may also meet friendly elephants and horses, with the opportunity to feed them, adding a memorable and heartwarming touch to the visit.
Next, visit Bung Udom Vietnamese Temple and Pakse Pun Tao Kong Shrine, located near the confluence where the Xe Don River meets the Mekong. Here, you can witness the striking natural spectacle of two differently colored waters flowing side by side, creating a unique and unforgettable scene. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing your cultural exploration.
Begin the afternoon with a visit to Pakse Museum, a small but fascinating museum where you can learn about the history, culture, and ethnic diversity of Southern Laos through artifacts, photographs, and exhibits. Afterward, stroll through Dao Heuang Market, Pakse’s largest and most vibrant market, where you can browse fresh produce, spices, traditional medicines, household goods, and local handicrafts, while also observing daily life and perhaps sampling some street food.
Finally, cross the Lao-Japanese Bridge to reach Wat Phu Salao (Golden Buddha Temple), perched on a hilltop. From here, enjoy sweeping panoramic views of Pakse town, the Mekong River, and the surrounding countryside. The site is especially magical at sunset, when the city and river are bathed in golden light, providing a perfect moment for photos and quiet reflection. After this memorable day, return to your hotel.
